Life Styles Course Description

Text:

Creating a Christian Lifestyle by Carl Koch (St. Mary’s Press)

Course Overview:

Young adulthood is an important transitional period in every person’s life. This course is designed to aid students in facing the challenges of young adulthood so that they can shape a future that is hopeful, healthy, and full. The belief that underlies this course is that a Christian lifestyle is the optimal way to grow and to be fully alive. From the perspective and principles of the Catholic Tradition, students will examine areas of personal identity and autonomy, love and friendship, personal communication and sexuality. They will also explore different options for a fulfilling adult life such as marriage, religious life and life as a single adult. This course is about living fully and becoming all that you can be as a person.

Life is a rich adventure if we know how to be attentive to it, value it, and enter into it with our whole being. Come join the adventure!!

Objectives:

*  Better understand herself and the rich possibilities of life according to Christ and will value her own personhood more deeply realizing God’s love for her.

*  Love others more fully in seeking justice and peace as part of her lifestyle.

*  Gain insights from the Christian tradition, social science and literature about the challenges and opportunities of young adulthood.

*  Articulate and examine her own personal story to create a vision of living life fully alive.
