Course Description:

The world desperately needs good moral decision makers.  Living a Catholic moral life is a response to God the Creator's love, a reflection of Jesus' message of love, and a journey guided by the grace of the Holy Spirit. This course focuses on the ways that the message of each commandment can be practiced in light of the spirit of Christ.

 Course Objectives:

*  Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the foundations of morality given by Jesus Christ.

*  Students will be able to identify and explain key concepts of Catholic morality.

*  Students will be able to  demonstrate awareness of elements involved in good moral decision making.

*  Students will be able to explain implications of values and principles of the Ten Commandments applicable

    today.

Course Requirements:

Please bring the required textbook , case studies workbook and a notebook to class each time we meet. This notebook will be used to hold all notes, handouts, assignments, assessments, and homework.

*Class participation  is expected - preparation of assigned reading/reflection is essential for the class to be a success.

*Tests, projects, oral presentations, written reflections/essays will be given throughout each quarter. Reflection papers and major projects must be typed.

* Quizzes may be given to review material covered in class and/or a homework assigned.  Homework assignments:  use the following format:  name, class, section, and date.  Hand written assignments that are legible and on loose leaf paper will be accepted.  Typed assignments - use 12point, in black ink.

Grading:  Grades will be based on quizzes 40%, tests 40%, projects test grade, as well as homework 10% and  class participation  10%.

Make up quizzes and assignments:**

**  missed assignments are due the day you return to school

** quizzes will be made up within (3) three days, and tests must be completed within a cycle.  Be sure to schedule missed assignments the day you return to school with Sr. Margaret

Christian Service:  Be sure to contact Ms. Licata regarding your number of service hours and dates for completion and requirements.
