Course Description: This course explores the themes of the Gospel message as well as the events associated with the life, death, and exaltation of Jesus.  It concludes with a general review and summary of the church's developing understanding of Jesus through history.  Students will reflect on how biblical truths may be incorporated into their own lives.

Course Objectives:  Students will be able to develop an appreciation for the Catholic Scriptures as the inspired Word of God.

                                  Students will be able to recognize the impact of Jesus throughout Salvation History as well as on the political and social events of the time.

                                  Students will be able to evaluate the bible as a religious and theological document, work of literary genius and a historical and cultural accumulation.

                                 Students will be able to  formulate through analysis, a personal concept of the spirit and message of Scripture.

 

Course Requirements:  Please bring the required textbook and notebook to class each time we met.  This notebook will be used to hold all notes, handouts, assignments, assessments and 

                                        *Class participation is expected - preparation of assigned reading/reflection is essential for the class to be a success.

                                        * Tests, projects, oral presentations, written reflection/essays will be given throughout each quarter.  Reflection papers and major projects must be typed.

Quizzes may be given to review material covered in class and/or homework assigned.  Homework assignments:  use the following format: name, class, section, and date.   Typed assignments use 12 point, in black ink.

Grading:  Grades will be based on quizzes, tests and projects (test grade), as well as homework 10% and class participation 10%.
