PHYSICS
The chapter we are currently working on is Chapter
One. Here is the outline for the material we will cover:
- Identify the system of measurement used in science
- Differentiate between FUNDAMENTAL and DERIVED units
- Be able to express numbers in
SCIENTIFIC NOTATION and perform math operations using those numbers
- Know the metric prefixes of centi-,
milli-, kilo-, mega-, and micro- and be able to perform conversions
- Distinguish between PRECISION and
ACCURACY
- Explain what PARALLAX is and how it
effects measurement errors
- Know how to find RELATIVE (PERCENT) ERROR
- Be able to identify the number of
SIGNIFICANT DIGITS in a measurement and perform math operations using them,
expressing your answer with the proper number of significant digits
- Be able to draw a graph properly
- Identify the DEPENDENT and INDEPENDENT
variables on a graph
- State the relationship between variable
based on the shape of the graph and their positions in an equation

- Read chapter two.
- These are the homework assignments
for the entire chapter. (PP) stands for practice problems, (RC)
reviewing concepts, (AC) applying concepts and (P) problems. If you are out,
have a classroom buddy who will tell you what you missed or check your notes to see what you
are missing and then check these assignments.

- Lab report due dates vary from
class to class. Check the classroom board for the dates that apply to
your section. If you are absent, check with me as soon as you return and
we will schedule a time for you to make up the lab and then turn in the
report.
Please check the classroom board
daily to determine which assignment pertains to a particular day. Since
the pace of the class is decided daily based on the classes' understanding of
the material, sometimes the class notes for a particular homework assignment are
not gotten to. Therefore, the homework must be amended.
