FORMATTING OF PAPERS

• All compositions must follow MLA style.
• Type papers double-spaced in Times New Roman, 12-pt. font only.
• Use only black ink on white 8 ½” X 11” paper with 1-inch margins all around.
• If the composition is longer than 1 page, your last name must be included at the margin in the upper right corner of each subsequent page.
• All pages must be stapled ONCE in the upper left corner.
• The first page must include the following (upper left corner):   

                              First and last name

                                         Mrs. DeSanta

                               English I or II, Class color (i.e. Orange class)

                Date (i.e., 10/21/10)

• The paper must be titled and the title is to be centered (no cover page—center title on first page below your name & section and above your first paragraph).
• You may be asked to send your paper to TURN-IT-IN for a plagiarism check. I will give you details in class when this is required.
• MOST IMPORTANT:  The Writing Center is located on the 2nd floor of the Information Commons. USE IT!!  Contact information can be found on the IHA home page. Mrs. Nudelman will post a schedule of hours. The Center is available for help with ANY written assignment (English, History, etc.). To receive credit for a Writing Center visit, you will be required to have a slip signed by the tutor and returned to me when a written assignment is handed in.
