Anatomy and Physiology Honors Course Expectations
The purpose of this course is to provide a foundational knowledge of both the anatomy and the physiologic functions of the human body. In addition, the students will learn how to apply this information toward an understanding of health and disease. This course will be very beneficial to those students seeking a future in health related fields, however all students are encouraged to take this course as part of their overall fund of knowledge and for a better understanding of how their bodies are designed. This knowledge will help the student have a healthier lifestyle.
The students taking Anatomy and Physiology Honors are expected to arrive to class on time, attend class regularly, participate in all exams, quizzes, labs and assigned discussions, as well as hand in homework on assigned dates. During the year there will also be project assignments. These projects will count as exams. The student is expected to make up all missed exams, quizzes, labs and homeworks within five class days of their return to school. If the student does not make up the missed work by this time, points will begin to be deducted. I will be open to extenuating circumstances. As with all courses, students are expected to behave with the highest morals, maturity and respect toward the teacher and fellow students. Uniform code will also be enforced in the classroom. Students are expected to check my web site daily for assignments.
Grades will be based upon the following:
Homework assignments (10%)
Announced Quizzes (10%)
Chapter Exams/ Projects ( 50%)
Clinical Impact Essays ( 10% )
Lab reports. ( we will be dissecting animal tissue during the year) ( 10%)
Class participation ( includes assigned article readings) ( 10%)
****** Please note that text books are expected to be with you for every class as we will need to refer to diagrams and questions. This will also be considered as a part of your participation grade **************
