Class description:
Environmental science is the study of the natural
sciences in an interdisciplinary context that always includes consideration of
people and how they have influenced the systems under examination. It includes
many aspects of biology, earth and atmospheric sciences, fundamental principles
of chemistry and physics, human population dynamics, and an appreciation for
biological and natural resources.
Grading Policy:
- I will grade this course on the point system.
Everything we do earns points. Homework will be worth anywhere between 5 and
10 points, quizzes 15 points, labs will vary, and tests will generally be
worth 100 points. The total number of points will be added up at the end of
the quarter and divided by the total number of points you could have earned.
A rubric will be provided for some assignments.
Student responsibilities:
- Come to class prepared and ready to work
- Work handed in on due date
- Two week assignment sheet
- Quarterly scrapbook
- Active participation in class discussions and lab
activities
- Make up work due to class absence
- Successful preparation on exams
- Smartypants and Barrons review books
- READ, READ, READ!!!!!
