World History I-Classroom Procedures

The following procedures will be followed throughout the year.

1.  Prepared for class: Each day class meets, students are expected to

·         Have all materials needed for class—laptops, homework assignments completed in the assigned format;

·         Participate— active, constructive participation is expected and is encouraged.

2.  Homework:

3.  Grading policy: Tests and Essays = 40% Quizzes = 40% Homework Assignments, Reading Check Quizzes and Participation = 20%

4.  Absent from class:

5.  Late assignments:

·         Daily homework assignments may not be made up for credit; they are due at the time the class meets.

·         Major writing assignments:  three points will be deducted for each day late.

·         Only some unusual circumstance should prevent you from being prepared.  Do not wait until the class period to explain why you will be late with an assignment. Send me an e-mail or see me before or during homeroom to discuss your problem.

6.  E-mail:

·         When you send me an e-mail, be sure to use your name and class in the subject line.

·         I will immediately send a return e-mail if you include a homework assignment as an attachment. If you do not receive an acknowledgement from me, you need to re-send your assignment.

·         E-mail me by 9pm for any questions, comments, or concerns about assignments or absences.

7.   Academic honesty: Integrity is an important value and is expected for all students; cheating in any form will not be tolerated. Any cheating, plagiarism, etc will be dealt with immediately by my self and the administration.

8.   Classroom atmosphere: At all times, students will treat all members of the class with courtesy, respect, and kindness.
