                                               consequences of each?
     Chapter 12:  Pivotal scene of symbolic importance:  the scaffold, the use of light, dark and shadows, the supernatural, the A

     Chapter 13:  Develop the contrast between Pearl's path and that of Dimmesdale.  How have her choices impacted her life?
