Here
are a few general tips to ensure that your laptop stays in good working order.
- Your laptop has been
loaded with the software you will need for school usage.
- Try not to move the
laptop while the hard drive is spinning.
- Always
leave your laptop in its case.
- NEVER leave the power
cord plugged into the laptop while it is being carried. It damages the connection and
could result in the replacement of the entire system board!
- Periodically, check
your hard drive for old files that are taking up space. (You will be instructed on how to do
this during Computer class.) Delete
any unused files. Don’t forget to
empty the trash bin.
- Keep your screen
clean and free of fingerprints, stickers, markers, etc. If it gets dirty, use a soft damp (not
wet) cloth to clean it.
- Never leave your
laptop in a hot or sub-freezing car. You could
seriously damage your display.
- If the
performance of your laptop deteriorates, save all documents, music, pictures,
etc. onto a CD, and ask Mr. Hotz to reimage. This should take only
minutes.
