Technical Support


The Help Desk and Support Center is located in the CAVE (Computer And Video Equipment) next to Room 121. If you have difficulties with your laptop and require technical help, bring your computer to the CAVE for assistance. Be prepared to explain exactly what the problem is and what you doing at the time the problem occurred. The CAVE is staffed with authorized computer technicians.

No cost will be incurred for covered warranty work. Any costs for work not covered by the warranty (fire, theft, loss, etc) will be the responsibility of the owner of the laptop. Please make sure you have insurance on your laptop.

If your laptop requires an extended repair time (more than 15 minutes), you may be given a loaner laptop to use in the interim.

Technical support is only available to those students who have purchased the IHA laptop. Likewise, loaner laptops are only available to those students who have purchased the IHA laptop.

If you have any problems with software and/or hardware you personally installed, the Support Center will not be able to provide you with assistance. You will need to contact the manufacturer directly.

The FIFTEEN MINUTE Rule – If your computer’s problem cannot be diagnosed within 15 minutes, it may be necessary to try a System Restore.  This will undo recent changes and may uninstall some recently installed applications.  If this does not solve the problem the computer will be given a Lobotomy – that is, the hard drive will be cleared and it will be reconfigured to the state in which it was given to you. Make sure all desired files are backed up on another computer, they will be deleted
