Vital Source Installation and Update

Vital Source is software supplied with your laptop that offers thousands of e-books on your laptop along with pictures, maps, sheet music, etc.  If you own an R51 (Freshmen) or have a hard drive that has been recently reimaged, it is installed and only need to update the contents (1,000's more!). You will need the VitalSource CD code that came with your laptop to re-validate your license. DO NOT UPDATE unless you have the code on the CD cover See step 2.

Sophomores and teachers can install but not update since you do not have a CD code.

Future reimages (mid Nov onwards should have the full database).

You must be at IHA and it is recommended that you "hard-wire" your computer to the network (remove a network wire from a desktop and plug it into your laptop)  since the files are big and installation may take an hour if done wirelessly.

Step1: Installation:

Get to \\server1\downloads\VitalSourceKEY

First run DOTNETFX.EXE

Then run Key_Installer_1.0.1.exe

Step 2: Updates

Get to \\server1\downloads\VitalSourceKEY\Updates

Open Folder KEY_PPL1

Run Setup1.vbs

Click Back to

Open Folder KEY_PPL2

Run Setup2.vbs

When you run the Vital Source it will be necessary to fill in a form and input your CD code.

Help - Update License
