NAHS Induction Ceremony March 2010

The National Art Honor Society was created by the National Art Education (NAEA) in 1978, specifically for high school students in grades 10-12. The organization's goal inspires and recognizes students who have shown an outstanding ability in art. The NAHS strives to aid members in working toward attainment of their highest potential in art and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community. To date there are approximately 23,000 members throughout the United States.
A student who demonstrates an interest and has successfully completed a minimum of one art course may apply for inclusion in NAHS in November of the academic year. She must maintain a 90 or above art course average and 85 or higher cumulative average. Following acceptance of the application, she moves to a probationary stage where she participates in a variety of the group's art-related activities. Activities include liturgy banners, set designing, art exhibits, and the annual Art Alumnae Event where graduates return to speak about their careers in art as well university life as an art major. Each NAHS participant is required to attend monthly meetings . 6 hours of art-related service must be accomplished each quarter. The induction ceremony takes place in March in a joint program with Tri-M, the music honor society. For further information, see Mrs. Encke in Room 108 or contact her at LEncke@ihahs.com.
